Notables

* The Pens and Red Wings meet for the second half of a home-and-home series. The Red Wings won Tuesday's contest in Detroit, 4-1.

* Phil Kessel scored the lone Pens goal in that contest, his 300th point with the Pens. Anthony Mantha scored 2 goals while Tyler Bertuzzi (2G-1A) and Dylan Larkin (3A) each notched 3 points. Goalie Jimmy Howard stopped 38 of 39 shots against.

* Pittsburgh's magic number to clinch the playoffs is down to 2. Any combination of a Pens' victory or regulation loss by Montreal (vs. WSH) tonight would clinch Pittsburgh's 13th straight postseason berth. The Pens will also clinch the playoffs by earning 1 point in any fashion and Montreal surrendering 1 point in any fashion.

* Kessel has 3 goals and 4 points in 2 games against Detroit this season.

* Matt Cullen will skate in his 1,515th game, passing Steve Yzerman for 19th place in NHL history.

* Sidney Crosby has points in 11 of his last 12 games against Detroit, posting 14 (5G-9A).

* Bertuzzi was named the NHL's 2nd Star of the Week after posting 10 points (4G-6A) in 4 games last week. He continued that hot stretch with 3 more points (2G-1A) against the Pens.

* Dylan Larkin became Detroit's 1st 30-goal scorer (32) since 2008-09 and 1st 70-point player (73) since 2010-11. Andreas Athanasiou also has 30 goals this year.

* Mantha has a 6-game point streak for 14 (7G-7A).
