Curry To Play For Team USA

by Joe Sager / Pittsburgh Penguins

Penguins prospect John Curry will tend the Team USA goal as it participates in the Deutschland Cup.

Curry was one of 20 players on the roster for the 2007 U.S. Men’s Select Team that will compete at the 2007 Deutschland Cup from Thursday-Sunday, in Hannover, Germany.

The roster includes players from the East Cost Hockey League, international professional leagues and the NCAA.

Signed as a free agent by the Penguins this summer, Curry completed a standout career at Boston University. A Hobey Baker Award finalist, he ranked fourth in the NCAA with a 2.01 goals-against average and sixth with a .928 save percentage. He led the nation with seven shutouts.

Playing for the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL, Curry has a 4-1 record and a 2.81 goals-against average in six games.

Tom Fitzgerald, the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Director of Player Development, will be an assistant coach for Team USA at the tournament.
