Penguins centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin both had productive weekends at the World Championship.
- Team Canada remained undefeated in round-robin play with a 4-3 win over France on Saturday and a 7-2 victory over Switzerland on Sunday. Crosby now has at least a point in all six of his team’s games as he recorded an assist on the game-winner against France and a helper against Switzerland. He has seven total points (3G-4A) so far in the tournament.
- Malkin has heated up as well. He scored his first goal of the tournament and added an assist in Russia’s 7-0 win over Belarus on Saturday to give him back-to-back two-point efforts (he had two helpers in their 5-2 win over Denmark on Wednesday). Malkin then helped Russia beat Slovakia 3-2 on Sunday to improve their record to 5-1 in group play.
