by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
CONSOL Energy Center ranks No. 10 in the world in concert and event gross revenues, according to Venues Today Magazine.

The Pittsburgh arena also ranks No. 5 in the U.S. – trailing only a handful of major venues, including Madison Square Garden in New York and the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The Venues Today rankings were based on concert and event grosses from Oct. 16, 2011 through May 15, 2012.

“I think it says a lot about the enthusiasm of our marketplace, and the attraction of CONSOL Energy Center for both fans and artists,” said Travis Williams, Chief Operating Officer of the Pittsburgh Penguins. “The Pittsburgh market is No. 24 in the U.S. in terms of population, and for our arena to rank No. 10 in the world and No. 5 in the country in concert and event gross revenues is an outstanding achievement.”

CONSOL Energy Center will host the 2012 NHL Draft on Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23.

Other upcoming events include Roger Waters on July 3, Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks on July 28, American Idol Live on Aug. 14, Rush on Sept. 11. Madonna on Nov. 6, Justin Bieber on Nov. 20 and Carrie Underwood on Nov. 27.
