Collection for Family of Fallen Officer John David Dryer To Be Held Before Penguins’ Game Tuesday

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
Police officers from various municipalities will come together to collect donations for the family of fallen officer John David Dryer before Tuesday’s 7 p.m. game between the Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes at CONSOL Energy Center. Officers will be taking donations at all three gates, starting at 6 p.m.

Officer Dryer, who served with the East Washington Police Department, was killed in the line of duty on Sunday, Dec. 18.

Penguins corporate partner 84 Lumber/Nemacolin Woodlands Resort will donate $10,000 to the effort.

“The loss of any life is tragic, and even more so when the person has devoted themselves to protecting all of us, as police officers do every day,” said Maggie Hardy Magerko, president and owner of 84 Lumber Company and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. “I hope that in some small way we are able to help Officer Dryer’s family, friends and colleagues through this very difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”

Donations also may be made at any Washington Financial Bank or mailed to WPPBF – David Dryer Memorial Fund, Washington Financial Bank, 3616 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317
