Seats from the Civic Arena are now on sale to the general public, it was announced today by the Sports & Exhibition Authority and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Civic Arena, which opened in 1961, was home of the Penguins from their inception in 1967 through the 2009-10 season.
Each pair of Civic Arena seats is priced at $495. They are available for purchase online, on a first-come, first-served basis, at www.iglooseats.com
. AssetNation, Inc. of Seven Fields, Pa. is handling the sale for the SEA and the Penguins.
Due to their age, some of the Civic Arena seats contained lead-based paint. Prior to the sale, the seats are being refurbished to remove the paint and restore them to good working order for the enjoyment of the fans.
In response to fan requests, the SEA and the Penguins now are giving seat buyers the option of picking up their seats directly from the arena. Previously, all seats were required to be shipped to buyers from the out-of-state refurbishment site. All seats will still be refurbished off-site, but the cost of shipping the seats to the Civic Arena will be paid by the SEA and the Penguins.
Penguins season ticket holders who purchased seats in November will be able to request a shipping refund if they choose to pick up their seat orders from the Civic Arena. Refund requests can be made to AssetNation, Inc. at firstname.lastname@example.org
or by calling 800.303.6511.
No seats will be shipped to the Civic Arena or directly to buyers until March.
In addition to the seats, Civic Arena memorabilia, furniture, fixtures and equipment are being sold in on-line auctions at AssetNation’s website, www.asset-auctions.com
