Children's Book Collection Brings Pages of Donations from Fans

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
Before the Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Montréal Canadiens game on Saturday, March 12, Penguins fans were invited to share their love of children’s literature by donating a children’s book or for the Penguins’ 3rd annual Children’s Book Collection.

Donations of new or gently used books will be used by Carnegie Library branches in the Pittsburgh area to support summer reading programs for children of all ages.  If fans opted to make a monetary donation, those funds will be used by Carnegie Library to purchase new books.
The Penguins Wives Association and Booster Club were both on hand to accept more than 1,385 books and $770.00.  Since 2009, the generosity of fans makes our cumulative contribution to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh 5,257 books and $2,971!
