CHE All-Star Skills, Game Saturday

by Joe Sager / Pittsburgh Penguins

Many local collegiate hockey players will participate in the 2007-08 College Hockey East All-Star Game and Skills Competition on Saturday at the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center.

The skills competition gets underway at 6:30 p.m., with the game to follow.

This is the fourth time the Island Sports Center will host the event, including the inaugural all-star game in 1999. The facility is home to four Robert Morris University ice hockey teams, including the RMU D-III squad, which competes in the CHE.

The College Hockey East is a collegiate club sports hockey league comprised of colleges and universities from the Western Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. The goal of CHE is to offer a competitive league of collegiate hockey teams that provides standards, structure, regulates operation, and promotes sportsmanship on and off the ice. The majority of membership teams in CHE are members of the American Collegiate Hockey Association. The partnership CHE has with the ACHA allows our member teams the opportunity to compete for a national championship while maintaining nationally established standards for players and teams.

The all-star event, in its ninth year, will once again feature a skills competition that will take place prior to the all-star game. All the all-stars will participate in events to showcase their talent, including fastest skater, puck control relay, rapid fire and breakaway competitions.

The all-star game features the CHE South Division all-stars against the CHE North Division all-stars. The rosters are as follows:
