INNER-CITY HOCKEY PROGRAM BENEFITS FROM GIFT

PITTSBURGH – The Bob Johnson Foundation has donated $23,000 to Hockey in the Hood, Pittsburgh’s inner-city youth hockey program.

Martha Johnson, wife of the late Penguins Head Coach Bob Johnson and their son Peter traveled to Pittsburgh on March 4 to make the official presentation during a pre-game ceremony at the Penguins vs. Carolina game.

The donation was given in honor of the great Badger Bob Johnson, a man who helped thousands of school-age, college and professional athletes become better people as well as outstanding students and athletes.

Johnson led the Penguins to their first Stanley Cup Championship in 1991.

In recognition of this gift, the Hockey in the Hood team has honored Coach Johnson by taking on a new nickname … the “Badgers.”
