-- Jarome Iginla found himself back on Canada's top line in Tuesday's Qualification Round win against Germany. He certainly made the most of it.
Iginla had a pair of goals, three shots on net and a plus-2 rating in 13:06 of ice time. His linemates weren't half-bad either. Sidney Crosby
had a goal and added five shots and a plus-2 rating. Eric Staal, the most recent winger to get Crosby duty, had three assists, three shots and a plus-3 rating.
Iginla now has 5 goals, a plus-5 rating and 10 shots in four games.
Just minutes after Tuesday night's 8-2 victory, Iginla stopped to chat with NHL.com. Q:
Was it nice to get a win to get the confidence back? Iginla:
We're feeling better going off a win, but also (it's) more time together. We've come together pretty quickly and it is better than a practice. You know you don't want to play (this game) and you know you need to win it; but, at the same time, once you are in it, it's more time for line combinations, more time for power play, penalty kill. Just get used to also playing elimination games; that's a Game 7. I thought tonight we handled that early. We came out and had our best start of the tournament. All of our legs were going. Q:
The lines were changed tonight and you had Staal on the other wing with Crosby. What did you think of it?
I thought all of our lines were good tonight. Everybody was ready to roll. For me, part of it was it was great to play with those guys. They were forces down below the goal line and that is what all of our lines were tonight. That's what we were trying to do -- puck possession. But I also think it was more time together as a group. Everybody feels a little bit more comfortable. The puck feels a little bit more normal. You settle in. Q:
What about Russia? Iginla:
We're looking forward to it. We know our country is and we are as players. There's history there. There's rivalries there; World Juniors and up, everybody has played against them and we are really looking forward to it and happy we have the opportunity. You know, whether it was the finals, semis, quarters, you have to play all good teams to win it and we play them now.
