How long have you been following the Pens and how did you become a fan?
I've been a fan since about 1996. My dad went to Pittsburgh on a business trip and we really started following them soon after he arrived. I've became a diehard fan as of late. Everyone thinks I'm crazy because I like Pittsburgh Penguins hockey and I live in the middle of Alabama.
Who is your favorite Penguins player (past or present)?
I'm torn between Sid and Geno.
Tell us about your favorite Penguins memory.
My girlfriend bought us two tickets to a Sunday game in Philadelphia for my birthday. I had never been to a Penguins game in my life so I was ecstatic. We drove roughly 16 hours from Birmingham, Alabama to Philly to watch the game. We left on a Friday and got to the hotel late Friday night. Saturday we spent most of the day in downtown Philadelphia and I tried to listen to the Penguins-Devils game while everyone else was caught up in the history of the city. I met a few Penguins fans that were going to their first game as well. That Sunday we got to the game two and a half hours early and I was stuck to the glass waiting for the team to come out, I took about 70 pictures on my phone and banged on the glass untill I couldn't feel my hands. The best part of that game was Malkin knifing from behind the net and scoring. We lost with .9 seconds in overtime which broke my heart but the game was well worth the price of admission.
On game day I usually...
Well seeing as I live in Alabama I usually try to go a spot where I get good wifi to try to watch the live stream of the game because it's never on TV. If that doesn't work, I always listen to the game because I love listening to Mike Lange's ''Itttssss a hockey night in Pittsburgh!'' After the game I usually go to my Penguins app on my phone and re-listen to Mike Lange's highlights of the game.
