Amateur & Junior Penguins Re-brand for 2012-13 Season

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
The Amateur and Junior Penguins have re-branded themselves with new names, logos and colors for the 2012-13 season.

The Junior A team, formerly known as the Junior Penguins, will be known as the Three Rivers Vengeance, and sport black, silver, red and white uniforms beginning in 2012-13. The Tier I & Tier II teams, formerly known as the Amateur Penguins, will now be known as the Renegades, a new logo and color scheme will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

The transition came with the cooperation and support of the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins, who are in the process of creating their own Tier I hockey program, which will use the Penguins’ name, logo and colors. As such, the Pittsburgh Penguins offered financial assistance to both the Amateur and Junior Penguins organizations in an effort to minimize the financial impact of this name change on their players and families. In addition, the Penguins offered branding research and marketing advice to both organizations as they begin preparing for the 2012-13 season.

The Renegades and Vengeance informed players and parents of the transition in early March.

Spring tryouts will take place in April for the “Renegades” amateur program and the “Three Rivers Vengeance” Junior A team. For Renegades tryout information click here and for Vengeance tryout information click here.
