Less than two weeks after helping the DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 16U team to the USA Hockey national championship, goaltender Aidan Campbell has signed with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League.
Campbell, 16, from Cranberry Township, stopped 27 of 28 shots to lead Pens Elite to a 2-1 victory over Yale in the national championship game on April 8. In 28 regular season games, he posted a 0.69 goals-against average and .944 save percentage with eight shutouts.
The 6-foor-4, 181-pound prospect also played two games for the U.S. National Under-17 Team. He was Erie's 12th round draft pick in 2018.
"Aidan has progressed nicely over the course of the season and experienced a great deal of success with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 16U program," said Erie general manager Dave Brown. "Aidan is blessed with great physical tools and combines it with an unmatchable determination, which has allowed him to continue his development at a rapid pace. He has succeeded at every challenge he's faced and done so in impressive fashion, culminating with his team's national championship."
