The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation has teamed up with Wendell August Forge to create a third and final ornament using steel from the former Civic Arena roof. The 2012 Civic Arena Commemorative Ornament will pay tribute to the Penguins’ three Stanley Cup Championship seasons with all proceeds directly benefiting the Foundation’s array of youth-oriented community programs.
As the final pieces of structure on the arena site were dismantled earlier this year, a limited amount of steel became available. Wendell August Forge purchased the remaining roof which has been used to create this third and final Civic Arena ornament to honor the storied history of the Civic Arena and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The 2012 Civic Arena Commemorative Ornament will be available for $29.00 plus tax starting at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 15 exclusively through the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation website at www.pittsburghpenguinsfoundation.org. Shipping and handling charges will be added to all orders.
Fans will also have the opportunity to purchase a 3-ornament Civic Arena Collectors Series for $99.00 plus tax, shipping and handling. The series features all three hand-crafted ornaments produced from the arena roof encased in a gold commemorative box. The collector’s series will also be available for purchase online on November 15. Supplies for this series are limited.
“We were very fortunate to have additional steel become available for this third commemorative Civic Arena ornament,” stated Dave Soltesz, Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation president. “The extra steel allows us to create and sustain valuable athletic and educational programs for our local youth.”
Orders will begin shipping the last week of November and continue through the third week of December, in time for the holidays. All orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
