2009 Pittsburgh Penguins Food Drive To Be Held on November 12
/ Pittsburgh Penguins
With the chill of winter swiftly approaching and utility costs rising, many families in difficult circumstances are hoping to stretch already thin budgets to enjoy holiday cheer with their loved ones. To help local disadvantaged families, the Penguins will once again partner with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to collect food on November 12.
Since 1992, the Pittsburgh Penguins have hosted annual food drives to help the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank feed the hungry at local community shelters and food pantries where the need for food has increased tremendously over the past year. The Penguins hope to raise food, funds and awareness to help feed the hungry in southwestern Pennsylvania.
Non-perishable foods and monetary donations will be accepted at Gates 1, 3 and 10 on November 12 as the Pittsburgh Penguins take on the New Jersey Devils. A portion of the monetary donations from this collection will enable the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank to purchase food for local families to make a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
