WXDX-FM (105.9 the X) and the Pittsburgh Penguins are announcing they have agreed on a contract extension for the X to broadcast all Penguins games on the radio.  The extension which takes effect in the Fall of 2009 is for 6 years and will take 105.9 the X into the new “Consol Energy Center.”

WXDX has carried Penguins hockey for the last 3-years and has enjoyed the benefits of the partnership including last year’s exciting “Stanley Cup” run.

John Rohm, President, Market Manager for Clear Channel Radio-Pittsburgh (which owns 105.9 WXDX) says “I’m delighted to announce the Radio Play by Play Broadcast Rights extension for another six years, with our friends and partners at the Pittsburgh Penguins!”

Rohm also adds, “We’ve worked diligently over the past several years to bring the Penguins fan base a superior listening experience with improvements in the areas of technology and talent.  We’re proud of our association with one of the NHL’s premiere franchises and one of Pittsburgh’s greatest assets; and we look forward to supporting their many contributions to the growth and prestige of our region.”
