The big question at Saturday’s morning stake for both the Panthers and Senators was who was going to start tonight in goal?
Tomas Vokoun or Craig Anderson for the Panthers?
Martin Gerber or Ray Emery for the Senators?
For the Panthers, GM and coach Jacques Martin said Vokoun will get the start. After missing Thursday’s 3-2 loss in Toronto with a mild ankle sprain, Vokoun skated Friday and was on the ice with the team Saturday morning at Scotiabank Place.
“I think he feels much stronger and feels he can play,” Martin said.
Down the hall, Senators’ coach John Paddock said Emery would get the call tonight in goal. It will be the first game of the season for Emery – his first game since June - after undergoing off-season wrist surgery. Paddock made the decision to play Emery over Gerber, who is 6-1 with a 2.13 goals against and .936 save percentage.
