Panthers play-by-play man Steve Goldstein is in Vancouver to cover the Olympic games for Westwood One radio. And while he's there, he'll be blogging on his experiences and his thoughts on the hockey tournament and the Olympics in general. Only seen on, enjoy as Steve brings you closer to the action (unless you're actually in Vancouver and at the games that is).

Game 1 is in the books on Super Sunday as Tomas Vokoun and the Czechs lost to Russia 4-2. The Russians got their offense rolling with two goals and an assist from Evgeny Malkin. The final goal was scored by Pavel Datsyuk into an empty net.

Russia's top power play unit is outrageous...Ovechkin, Malkin, Kovalchuck, Datsyuk and Gonchar!

Russia finishes the preliminary round with 7 points and the Czechs end with 6. All seedings will be known by tonight.

Bode Miller is a rebel who in the past had said Olympic medals don't matter to him. I have a feeling they matter now that he is winning them! He took home gold in the men's super-combined, his third medal of the Vancouver games (silver and bronze as well).

More later.
