USA Hockey Announces Roster For 2011 World Junior Championship

SUNRISE, FL – USA Hockey announced today their final roster for the 2011 IIHF World Jr. Championship that will take place in Buffalo, NY from December 26, 2010 through January 5, 2011. The final roster includes Panthers prospects F Nick Bjugstad (19th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft) and F Drew Shore (44th overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft).

Bjugstad, 18, has played in 13 games for the Univ. of Minnesota this season scoring two goals with two assists and 23 PIM. The Blaine, Minnesota native was drafted by Florida with their second first-round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Shore, 19, is currently tied for second in the WCHA and ranks tied for third and fifth among NCAA Division I leaders, with 14 goals and 25 points in 20 games played. He was named NCAA Division I Player of the Month for November, after guiding Univ. of Denver to a 7-1-0 record. The Denver, Colorado native was drafted by Florida in the second round in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The United States will complete their exhibition schedule Thursday against Norway in Jamestown, New York. Their first game of the 2011 World Jr. Championship will take place on Dec. 26 against Finland at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo.

Bjugstad and Shore will join D Erik Gudbranson and F Quinton Howden (Canada) and Joonas Donskoi (Finland) in the quest for gold.
