Panthers fans hoping to get close to the team this season have a new seating option.

Called the "Panthers Locker Room," it includes season tickets in the lower bowl behind the shoot-once goal at BankAtlantic Center for $35 a game full-season — down from $50 last season — and personal attention from players such as David Booth, Stephen Weiss and Keith Ballard.

The 1,100 seats in sections 105 to 114, rows 18 to 28, are being divided into segments that will be named for five to seven Panthers players, who will hold autograph sessions and skating clinics for fans in their areas. Those seat holders will also get their section namesake's merchandise and birthday and holiday e-mail messages from him. The sections are being decorated to look like the inside of a team locker room.

"I'd better be in Stephen Weiss' [section]. He's a cutie," said Cary Baker, a Panthers fan from Pompano Beach, who bought a 13-game mini-plan after she got an e-mail advertising the Locker Room tickets. "It's a wonderful offer. The way the economy is, big vacations are a thing of the past. This is a like a mini-vacation every time there's a game."

The Panthers have reduced prices in much of the arena for the 2009-10 season, but designed the Panthers Locker Room to add even more value, Panthers team President Michael Yormark said. "Fans talk about that all the time: 'I want to meet my favorite player, I want to meet my hero.' We've gone to the players and gotten their sign-off that we want to do something unique," Yormark said. "You could discount tickets, you could come up with any gimmick you want to entice consumers to make that purchase. In this case, we're using our strongest assets — that is, our players — to provide more value."
