President elect Barack Obama was sworn in today and it was amazing to be able to witness such a monumental event. It will be cool to tell my grandkids that I was a Rochester American while I watched the first African-American President take the oath of office. This was such an inspiring event.

The sheer number of the people who showed up to the event was incredible and I was also struck by how happy everyone looked. I think this was a great day for the world we live in and listening to President Obama speak, I really felt a sense that something good was happening, not only for the US but for the whole world.

Speaking of good things happening, the team has been playing a lot better over the past few weeks. When I think over the recent games and consider what has led to our recent success, I can't help but think about how confident our team is right now. Confidence can be everything in hockey and when a team is working hard every day in practice and seeing results in games, confidence becomes abundant and very contagious around the locker room. At the beginning of January we had a two-game road trip to Manitoba, a very good team that we had not beaten thus far. We played two strong games and came home with a much deserved four points, and it seems that since that weekend we've been confident that we can win on any given night, something that was really missing from our team in the early part of the season.

Looking ahead to this weekend's games, we play Syracuse and Manitoba at home, before traveling to Albany on Saturday night. Lately, our fans have been awesome. It is so nice to play at home with a supportive crowd to back us up. We may not thank you enough for all of your support, but it really does give us that extra boost.

Talk to you soon,
Tanner
