Sunrise Edition: Update From Vegas

Hello fans. I am in Las Vegas for a few meetings with the NHL. As you may know, the NHL awards ceremonies were held at the Palms Hotel last night.

I am having breakfast with Commissioner Bettman this morning followed by a meeting with Steve Hatze Petros who is in charge of scheduling. Both meetings are very important as we continue to focus on the 2009-2010 season.

Things at the BankAtlantic Center are going fairly well. Our hockey operations department is getting ready for the NHL draft next week as well as the free agent signing period and Bill Torrey continues to focus on hiring our next GM.

Bill's search is going very well as there has been significant interest around the NHL for this position. Most candidates acknowledge that our team is very close to turning the corner and that we have lots of good kids in our minor league system.  Additionally, everyone loves the new training facility which should help us recruit free agent players. The next two weeks will be key to our search/interview process.

By the way, stay tuned for the first of what should be many hockey operation announcements. It may come as early as today.

On the business front, we will have a major announcement over the next 14 days on our new season ticket  pricing for next season. This has been our most important off-season initiative and we are almost ready to unveil the details.

Additionally, we will announce a few new sponsors in the coming weeks. Each one is a blue chip brand which should help to enhance the game experience at the Bankatlantic Center.

Furthermore, Billy Lindsay and Steve Goldstein continue to prepare for next season. They have been working together for the past 30 days and are beginning to get very comfortable as a team. They will be outstanding together on FS Florida next season.

As it relates to the just concluded NHL playoffs, what more could we have asked for? The matchups were great. VERSUS and NBC did a great job with their broadcasts and the Stanley Cup finals between the Penguins and Red Wings was just incredible. Congratulations to Mario Lemieux and the entire Penguins organization on winning the Stanley Cup. Hopefully, we will get our chance sooner than later.

I would also like to congratulate the Lakers organization on winning their 15th NBA championship. The NBA post-season was also very exciting and I really enjoyed watching Kobe kiss the championship trophy. He is the best closer in sports!!!

Last but not least, we are preparing for two big events at the Bankatlantic Center over the next ten days. IL Divo and Beyonce will be making exclusive appearances at the Center Of It All. Tix are still available but you better get them soon as we are almost sold out for both performances.

Well, that's about it. I hope you found this blog to be informative and insightful. I promise I will report back to you within the next few days.

Have a wonderful Friday and for all of our fathers out there, Happy Fathers Day!!!

Go Panthers go!!
