Cats Head Home to Face Sabres on Thursday Night

Jozef Stumpel scored for the Panthers in a 3-1 loss at Carolina on Tuesday night. Florida has earned at least a point in nine of their previous 10 games.

The Cats now head home to the BankAtlantic Center, where they are 20-10-4, to face the Eastern Conference leading Buffalo Sabres. The Cats will play 7 of the next 9 on home ice.

Florida tied it at 1 with Stumpel's unassisted goal at 11:21 in the second period. Stumpel walked around Carolina center Josef Vasicek and beat Grahame to the far post.

The Panthers then took three consecutive penalties at the end of the second period. They survived the first two, as Carolina's power-play continued to struggle.

Notes: Florida defenseman Mike Van Ryn left the ice with 1:32 left in the first period after accidentally getting hit above the eye by the stick of Carolina's Trevor Letowski. Van Ryn received 20 stitches, but returned midway through the second period.
