Fundraising Efforts Will Revolve Around Major Events
SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today the re-launch of the Florida Panthers Foundation for the 2006-07 NHL season with an aggressive schedule of high-end fundraising initiatives. The Foundation's major fundraising efforts will revolve around a series of Pillar Events including the GameOn! Carnival, the Ice & Dice Casino Night and the "Shirts Off Our Backs" Auction.
"This is by far the most aggressive event schedule in the history of the Panthers Foundation," Vice President of Community Development Randy Moller said. "We've structured our initiatives around our biggest fundraising events in order to step-up our overall support for the South Florida community. The Foundation has the full backing of the entire organization, as our players, coaching staff and front office executives have pledged their time to our initiatives."
The first Pillar Event of the season is the inaugural GameOn! Carnival on Sept. 29 at the BankAtlantic Center. The entire Florida Panthers organization will be on hand – including players, coaches and staff – as the Panthers Foundation hosts a grand night of player autographs, photos with players and entertainment for fans. The players themselves will take part in a multitude of carnival games and activities. There will be raffles, silent auctions and carnival food.
Then, on Opening Night Oct. 6, prior to the Cats-Bruins game at the BankAtlantic Center, the Foundation will host an auction for Panthers memorabilia with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Panthers Foundation. In addition, the Foundation will launch Bertuzzi's Buddies, a program where star Panthers forward Todd Bertuzzi will donate tickets to underprivileged South Florida children for Panthers home games throughout the season.
The Panthers Foundation's 2nd Annual Ice & Dice Casino Night returns to the BankAtlantic Center. Ice & Dice, one of the club's biggest community initiatives of the year, gives fans a chance to try their luck in a variety of Casino games with some of their favorite players. In its' inaugural year the event raised more than $140,000 for the Panthers Foundation.
The Panthers Foundation will finish off the regular season with the "Shirts Off Our Backs" Auction during the Cats last home game on Apr. 1. During the game fans will bid through a silent auction for the chance to go down to center ice and receive an autographed game worn jersey from a Panthers player. The player literally takes the jersey off his back, autographs it and takes a photo with the winning fan. Last year the "Shirts Off Our Backs" Auction raised more than $35,000.
In addition to the Pillar Events, the Panthers Foundation will host a series of other fundraising initiatives including: the Eventfest Expo (August 29), Hockey Moms and Breast Cancer Awareness Night (Oct. 20), the Panthers Day of Caring/ Broward Cooperative Feeding Program (Nov. 21), Holiday Hospital Visits (December), the Carl's Holiday Spectacular for Toys For Tots (Dec. 23), the Sweetheart Auction (Feb. 10) and the Girl Scouts of Broward County Feeding Broward Together food drive (March).
