SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today the Florida Panthers, the BankAtlantic Center and Patron are teaming up with We Don’t Serve Teens (dontserveteens.gov) to help reduce teen drinking and related harm. The program will be supported through public service announcements, concession signage, bartender buttons, web and radio exposure and more during Florida Panthers home games at the BankAtlantic Center throughout the 2009-10 NHL season.
“We are thrilled and honored to join with longtime partner Patron, and We Don’t Serve Teens, to help reduce teen drinking in South Florida and beyond,” said SSE president & COO Michael Yormark. “Our entire organization, from players to coaches to staff are 100-percent behind this worthwhile campaign.”
“The spirits industry is united in our common goal of preventing underage consumption of our products, and it’s particularly gratifying that so many other companies and organizations share this important concern with us,” said John McDonnell, Chief Operating Officer at Patrón Spirits International. “At Patrón Spirits we’re firmly committed in our support of the FTC’s ‘We Don’t Serve Teens’ initiative, and we’re thankful for the generous involvement of our friends and partners at the BankAtlantic Center.”
Most teens that drink get alcohol from “social sources” — at parties, from older friends, from their parents’ cabinets. Teen drinking is linked to injury and risky behavior. We can reduce teen drinking by stopping teens’ easy access to alcohol. Help us achieve this goal. Post this message on your website, and use the campaign materials available at www.dontserveteens.org
to get the word out:
Don't serve alcohol to teens.
It's unsafe. It's illegal. It's irresponsible.
