Over the summer, Panasonic, together with Lighthouse Technologies, has been hard at work installing the BB&T Center’s new scoreboard. The scoreboard features state-of-the-art video and audio capabilities that are unlike any other scoreboard in North America. The new 30-foot high by 40-foot wide scoreboard was designed by Anthony James Partners and boasts one of the first pitched-forward, 360-degree continuous primary screens in professional sports. The new state-of-the-art 6mm LED high-definition screens measures 16-feet high by almost 168-feet around.
“After an extensive and aggressive process led by Anthony James Partners, we are excited to partner with Panasonic to bring a state-of-the-art scoreboard to the Broward County-owned BB&T Center,” said SSE Sr. Vice President & BB&T Center General Manager Brett Stefansson. “I am confident that this new board will be one of the best and most advanced in North America, while reinventing the in-arena experience for Florida Panthers fans and guests of the major international events we expect to attract. I would also like to once again thank Broward County for their support of this exciting project.”
The scoreboard will be unveiled during the Florida Panthers first home game of their 20th anniversary 2013-14 season, Friday, Oct. 11 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. In addition to Panthers home games, the BB&T Scoreboard will be utilized for a host of major events including an NHL Entry Draft, NCAA college basketball, Golden Boy championship boxing, and a potential NHL All Star Game.
