by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
Following the huge success of last season's Kelli's Korner, would like to introduce this season's BOVA Panthers Ice Dancer blogger, Yendi. A rookie this season, Yendi will be sharing her thoughts on this upcoming season from what's going on with the dancers to what's going on and off the ice, as well as anything else that she cares to discuss in her blog known as ROOKIE RANT.

Ok, so can we talk about last Saturday’s game against the Islanders? OMG! I have become a believer in the cosmic power of the sport of hockey. It was back and forth, heart pounding and incredible as the New York Islanders GOT WHOOPED! So here is what I have come up with so far, and bear with me as I catch up on all my hockey stats when I squeeze reading time in between practice at the gym and game day performances. From the cheerleader’s eye view in Section 127 at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, FL, the Panthers brought a big W home against the NY Islanders. The game began with two New York goals in the first couple of minutes in the first period. Cory Stillman and Stephen Weiss gave us back to back goals in the second which was great because we got to do our goal dance, and I like doing the goal dance, it’s a good time! Coming into the third with a tie, Michael Frolik made that crucial shot at the beginning of the third period and the Ice Dancers ran back to the stage just in time to do the goal dance (we were in the locker room changing back into our skirts and boots after our Ice Dance Routine). As the third period came to an end, the New York dudes scored and tied the game, which went into overtime and then a shootout. Nathan Horton’s shot and Tomas Vokun’s awesomeness pulled us through with a 5-4 victory. Are you excited yet?

It's our entire squad! I love these gals!

Our Rookie of the Week features Megan, the winner of the Best Rookie Dancer Growl Award at our Panthers Ice Dancers’ Social. Megan, is cool and laid back and she’s always at practice with a smile on her face. I can always count on her to know that extra step I seem to always get stuck on. She is a pro; she went to high school at New World School of the Arts and then FAU, where she was on the dance team. What I love about her is that she gets to practice ready to either do an abs session with me or go straight into dance mode. She’s a strong dancer with major skills who is super friendly and great to work with; she knows when it’s time for business.

Don’t forget the hottest calendar in South Florida is on sale now at the Panther home games and right here on! Stay tuned for more Ice Dancer Shenanigans right here on the Rookie Rant and more from my trusty HD video camcorder from CompUSA.
