SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that the largest home preseason crowd since 2005-06 attended Friday night’s Florida Panthers-Tampa Bay Lightning game at the BankAtlantic Center. The Cats fell to their in-state rivals, 2-1 in overtime, in front of 11,688 guests. It was the biggest preseason crowd at the BankAtlantic Center since 15,307 fans saw Florida take on the Lightning on Oct. 2, 2005.
The game also acted as a dress rehearsal for Opening Night Oct. 16, as fans got a glimpse of the incredible game presentation, new intimate seating capacity and party atmosphere that will descend on the BankAtlantic Center in just over two weeks time.
“Tonight our fans got a glimpse of the incredible atmosphere and fan experience of Opening Night 2010, and games throughout the season,” said SSE president & COO Michael Yormark. “Quite frankly, the environment at the BankAtlantic Center during Cats home games will be second to none in professional sports, and we want all South Florida fans to come and join the party. A big thank you to the record crowd of over 11,000 that attended the preseason game this evening.”
Highlights of the new BankAtlantic Center experience include a refreshed in-game presentation, new centerhung scoreboard graphics and themes, upgraded music and sound system, new staff wardrobes, the fully-activated Party Patrol on the JetBlue Tarmac with party vans and inflate-ables, a new public address announcer, in-game host and Panthers Ice Dancer team, a more intimate seating capacity of 17,040, and much, much more. These enhancements will help make Panthers home games the most exciting live experience in South Florida.
