Drafted: 2011 by Florida Panthers, second round (33rd overall)
After a standout college career at the University of North Dakota, Grimaldi made his pro hockey debut on Oct.10 against Iowa. The 5’6” forward has grabbed the attention of scouts for years for his top-end level offensive skill but also concerned many of those scouts with his size. At every level of play, Grimaldi has proven his size will not hold him back; in fact it motivates him to be a role model.
Grimaldi posted 77 points (31-46-77) in 86 games for North Dakota and carries that success into his newly beginning pro career, as he has recorded a point in his first two games of the season. Riding this two-game point streak, Grimaldi has quickly proven his ability to produce offensively at the pro level. Scoring an overtime game-winner against Oklahoma City for his first AHL goal, Grimaldi has brought San Antonio fans to their feet very early into his career, and is sure to be a fan favorite very soon.
