The San Antonio Rampage
have played their last two games on pink ice, with pink uniforms to honor and celebrate those who have passed away and those who have survived and continue to fight breast cancer.
For the fifth annual Pink in the Rink, the Silver and Black traded in their traditional colors for pink in games against the Texas Stars (Feb. 5) and Oklahoma City Barons (Feb. 7). Although the Rampage fell 5-2 to the Stars, they finished the week strong with a 5-3 win over the Barons.
Rampage Captain D Greg Zanon took things up a notch for this event, dying his trademark beard pink.
Against the Stars, F Mark Mancari and F Garrett Wilson scored for the Rampage, notching their ninth and 16th goals respectively. G Michael Houser made 24 saves on 28 shots.
In their matchup against the Barons, F Vincent Trocheck , F Brett Olson, F John McFarland, D Shane O’Brien and F Bobby Butler recorded goals for the Rampage. Olson recorded three points (1-2—3) in the contest, while F Rocco Grimaldi recorded two assists. Butler’s two point night (1-1—2) earned him first star honors. G Dan Ellis stopped 29 of 32 shots in the contest.
Three Rampage players recorded multi-point games, while Butler and Olson finished plus-three against OKC. Both D Jonathan Racine and Wilson recorded 7 PIM each.
