After missing 19 games due to injury, Howden has returned to action for San Antonio in a big way. Most recently, with a season-high four assists in the Rampage’s 7-3 win over the Texas Stars on Dec. 26. The four point night for Howden was a professional career-high.
In ten games played this season, Howden has recorded six points (0-6—6) and a plus-three rating. The speedy winger is now in his third professional season and has posted 63 points (23-40—63) in 124 games with San Antonio.
One of Florida’s first round picks (25th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Howden has spent time in South Florida as well, recording six points (4-2—6) in 34 games. The 22-year old forward notched his first NHL goal Apr. 1, 2014 against the New York Islanders. The goal was also the first shorthanded marker of his career.
A solid two-way presence, Howden can be trusted in all situations. The Oak Bank, Manitoba native is developing into the type of player that can make a difference at both ends of the ice. His top-end speed and defensive instincts make him a strong penalty killer, while his willingness to go to the net , work the corners and go to the dirty areas to score goals make him a valuable offensive player.
