The Panthers used their sixth round pick (152nd overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft to select the towering blueliner, Josh Brown.
Brown exemplifies leadership and impeccable character while captaining the first place Oshawa Generals (OHL). The 20-year old defenseman plays a stay-at-home style of game and leads by example on the ice. No stranger to throwing his weight around or dropping the gloves, Brown isn’t afraid to mix things ups physically for his team.
"(Brown) is as tough as nails", said Panthers Manager of Player Development, Bryan McCabe during the team's offseason development camp. "He'll do anything to learn. He's going to make his way up the system. He's a true leader, captains his team this year. He's silent, but deadly. He's got a great personality and he was great at rookie camp."
Brown's bread and butter is certainly the defensive side of the game and continues to prove it this year. In his most recent game, Brown earned a plus-three rating in Oshawa’s 4-1 victory over the Erie Otters (Dec. 7). Brown was given third star of the game honors for his performance. The 20-year old defenseman has recorded five points (2-3—5) and a plus-14 rating in 20 games this season.
