Hometown: Evergreen, Colorado
Drafted: 2013 (fourth round, 92nd overall)
Growing up in Colorado, Cowley rooted for the University of Denver, attending games regularly. Fast forward to 2014, Cowley is still a regular at DU games, this time between the pipes for the Pioneers.
Cowley is now a sophomore at Denver and has assumed the responsibility of the number one goaltender for the club. The 19-year old goalie backed up Panthers prospect Sam Brittain last season during Brittain’s senior year. Now with Brittain’s graduation to the pros, Cowley has looked to pick up right where Brittain left off.
Playing in nine games this season, Cowley owns a 6-3-0 record, a .929 save percentage, a 1.85 goals against average and has also recorded an assist. Earning two shutouts this season, Cowley’s most recent was a 16-save shutout against Air Force, while his first was a 26-save shutout against RPI.
The young netminder was also one of the four goalies invited to Team USA’s evaluation camp for the 2014 World Junior Championship.
