San Antonio defeated the Utica Comets 8-4 on Thursday, Jan. 1 in a twelve-goal offensive explosion. Utica, the Western Conference leaders, had only lost one home game in regulation going into the New Year’s Day contest.
The first period ended with a 1-0 San Antonio lead, but it was what followed that shaped the game and met a few milestones in the process. The Rampage served up six second period goals to tie a franchise record and set an AHL season-high for most goals in a period. San Antonio potted another goal in the third period to tie a franchise record for most goals in a game.
