Prospect Spotlight: AHL Season-High

With eight goals and multiple franchise records tied, the Rampage earn this week’s Prospect Spotlight as a team.

San Antonio defeated the Utica Comets 8-4 on Thursday, Jan. 1 in a twelve-goal offensive explosion. Utica, the Western Conference leaders, had only lost one home game in regulation going into the New Year’s Day contest.

The first period ended with a 1-0 San Antonio lead, but it was what followed that shaped the game and met a few milestones in the process. The Rampage served up six second period goals to tie a franchise record and set an AHL season-high for most goals in a period. San Antonio potted another goal in the third period to tie a franchise record for most goals in a game.

San Antonio had eight different players record goals and 13 different players register points in the contest:

D Shane O’Brien scored the game’s first goal. O’Brien has notched 14 points (6-8—14) in 22 games this season.

F Connor Brickley recorded the second goal of the game and ended the night with two points (1-1—2). Brickley has registered 19 points (9-10—19) in 31 games this season.

F Garrett Wilson scored the game’s third, finishing the night with two points (1-1—2). Wilson has recorded 21 points (13-8—21) in 33 games this season.

D Jesse Blacker notched the game’s fourth and recorded two points (1-1—2) in the contest. Blacker has recorded eight points (2-6—8) in 20 games.

F Bobby Butler recorded the game’s fifth and notched three points (1-2—3) in the contest. Butler leads San Antonio in scoring with 31 points (14-17—31). Butler’s 31 points rank him tied for fifth in AHL scoring.

F Drew Shore scored the sixth goal and recorded two points (1-1—2). Shore ranks second on San Antonio with 30 points (9-21—30) and his 30 points ranks him tied for sixth in AHL scoring.

F Andrew Yogan recorded the seventh goal of the game and the sixth of the second period. Yogan has notched three points (3-0—3) in 14 games this season.

D Alex Petrovic netted the game’s final goal. Petrovic has recorded 16 points (3-13—16) in 31 games this season.

F Mark Mancari notched three assists in the game (0-3—3). Mancari has recorded 26 points (6-20—26) in 33 games this season. F Brett Olson notched two assists (0-2—2) including his 50th career AHL point. Olson has recorded 19 points (5-14—19) in 33 games this season.

G Dan Ellis made 28 saves on 32 shots in the contest. Ellis owns a 14-7-1-3 record with two shutouts, a 0.904 save percentage and 2.58 goals against average this season for San Antonio.
