Colin White, Sam Reinhart, Eetu Luostarinen and Matthew Tkachuk all scored against the Flames, while Spencer Knight turned aside 31 shots between the pipes. Stepping up against his former team, Tkachuk's tip-in goal in the third period made it 4-4 and helped lock in a key point.
Making a dent on the scoresheet in 13 of his first 16 games in a Panthers sweater, Tkachuk leads the team and ranks ninth in the NHL with 24 points (seven goals, 17 assists). Piling up points in bunches as of late, he's produced multiple points in each of his last three games.
"We didn't have the start we wanted, but if we play like we did when we're going and the energy's high, there's not many teams, if any, that can play with us," Tkachuk said when asked about the late push against Calgary. "It's just about making that a consistent 60-minute effort."
With Knight getting the nod against the Flames, Sergei Bobrovsky will draw in against his former team in Columbus. Bobrovsky, who won two Vezina Trophies during his seven seasons with the Blue Jackets, has posted a 4-4-1 record with a .895 save percentage in 10 games this season.
Falling to 6-10-1, the Blue Jackets saw their four-game point streak snapped with a 6-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. After Emil Bemstrom scored to make it 1-1 just 43 seconds into the second period, Columbus went on to surrender five straight goals to the Red Wings.
Dealing with injuries up and down their lineup, the Blue Jackets are currently without key players such as Zach Werenski (shoulder, out for season), Patrik Laine (ankle sprain, out 3-4 weeks as of Nov. 14) and Jakub Voracek (upper body, out indefinitely), just to name a few.
In his first season with the Blue Jackets, Johnny Gaudreau, a former teammate of Tkachuk's in Calgary, leads the team in scoring with 15 points (six goals, nine assists). Not far behind him, Boone Jenner is second in scoring with 13 points, including a team-leading seven goals.
After Joonas Korpisalo gave up six goals on 37 shots to the Red Wings, Daniil Tarasov will likely man the crease for Columbus against the Panthers. Making five appearances this season, Tarasov has registered a 1-3-0 record with a .893 save percentage.
Facing off for the first time this season, the Panthers have won eight of their last nine games against the Blue Jackets, including wins in each of their past three trips to the state of Ohio.
