Panthers forward Evgeny Dadonov wastes little time in Wednesday's game in picking up his first career NHL goal. Dadonov scores just 29 seconds into the contest off an offensive face-off win, scoring while driving to the net on Cam Ward.
The Panthers strike once again early in the first period against Carolina as Michael Frolik scores on his own rebound on a rush just 1:42 into the contest, 1:13 after Dadonov's goal. The goal chased Cam Ward.
With the Sabres buzzing to get on the board and on a power play, Tomas Vokoun comes up with a big left pad save as Derek Roy finds himself open and with the puck from just outside the goal crease 10:35 into the first.
Jason Garrison puts a well-placed shot that caroms off the backboards and right to the stick of Marty Reasoner on the goal line. The forward pots the puck into the open net 14:08 into the opening period to make it 3-0. The goal turns out as the game-winner.
On a power play of their own, Shawn Matthias drops the puck back to Michael Frolik on a rush who in turns drops in to David Booth. There Booth works east to west where he outwaits Ryan Miller and fires it into the top of the net to make it 4-0 with 3:32 left in the first.
The quick strike Panthers get on the board early on once again, this time in the third period and while killing off a Sabres power play as Chris Higgins steals the puck behind the Sabres net and feeds Stephen Weiss for the goal 13 seconds in to make the score 6-1.
