Pierre Groulx Named Goaltending Coach

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
Pierre Groulx, who served as video coach the last two seasons for the Panthers, has been named goaltending coach, GM and coach Jacques Martin said Thursday afternoon.

Martin, attending the NHL Entry Draft in Columbus, Ohio, said Phil Myre, who served last year as the Panthers goaltending coach and pro scout, would be a full-time pro scout. Martin also said assistant coach George Kingston will leave the team come June 30.
Groulx served as video coach in Ottawa for Martin the previous five seasons before coming to South Florida. In April of 2005, Groulx was a member of the Team Canada coaching staff at the World Hockey Championships in Austria. Groulx, who has been used as a practice goalie for the Panthers, started his coaching career as an assistant coach/goaltending coach with the Cumberland Grads of the Central Junior ‘A’ Hockey League.
Kingston, former head coach of the San Jose Sharks, had served two different stints as an assistant with the Panthers.
