Den pays tribute to Panthers history, as well as youth and high school hockey in South Florida

SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that the Florida Panthers unveiled the new South Florida Hockey Den of Honor on Saturday, March 20 at a VIP unveiling inside the BankAtlantic Center in front of an assembled crowd of media, supporters, local celebrities and visiting Panthers Alumni.
The Den Of Honor, located on the BankAtlantic Center’s plaza level between sections 115 and 121, pays tribute to the players, coaches, personalities and moments that have played a significant role in Panthers history from the announcement of the franchise in the early 90s to the present. It also honors the people and organizations that continue to help South Florida grow as a hotbed for youth and high school hockey, like Florida Scholastic Hockey League Founder Dr. Peter Pearlman, who spoke at the unveiling.
The unveiling ceremony was hosted by Randy Moller, the President of the Florida Panthers Alumni Association and current Panthers’ radio broadcaster.  Other attendees included SSE Managing Partners Cliff Viner and Stu Siegel, President & COO Michael Yormark who spoke, and Panthers Alumni Scott Mellanby, Doug MacLean, Scott Tinkler, Bill Lindsay, Peter Worrell, Paul Laus, Chris Wells, John Jakopin, Mike Hough, and Brian Skrudland, who spoke on behalf of the Alumni.  Local politicians including City of Sunrise Mayor Roger Wishner, City of Sunrise Commissioner Larry Sofield, Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook and Coral Springs Commissioner Vince Boccard also were on hand.
“This Den of Honor is a time capsule for everything that hockey has meant to this region,” said Panthers President & COO Michael Yormark.  “But like the passion and excitement for the sport that continues to swell from Palm Beach to Broward to Miami-Dade, this place too will continue to grow with the moments and the memories that are still waiting to be honored.”
The South Florida Hockey Den Of Honor is part of the commitment to reengaging the franchise’s history made by new SSE Managing Partners Cliff Viner and Stu Siegel, who cut the ceremonial ribbon (attached photo) alongside Brian Skrudland and Scott Mellanby, the first two Captains in the franchise’s history.
