Panthers to Play Trio of Games This Week

Cats Return Home for Pair of Big Contests Thursday vs. Washington Capitals & Saturday vs. Los Angeles Kings

SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers look to extend their winning streak to three games when they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight at Mellon Arena. The Cats currently sit just six points out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, going 9-4-4 in games played since mid-December.

"Our team continues to compete hard every game and we have picked up some important wins over the last few games," team captain Olli Jokinen said. "We believe in the direction that this organization is headed and hope that our fans come out and continue to support the team for the remainder of the season."

After tonight's game the Panthers return to South Florida for a pair of big home games against their division rivals the Washington Capitals on Thursday, Feb. 1, followed by the only South Florida visit from the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, Feb. 3. Cats G Eddie Beflour, who will start tonight, has posted an 8-1-3 mark in his last 12 starts with a 2.15 GAA,. In addition, the line of C Jozef Stumpel, LW Martin Gelinas and RW Rostislav Olesz have combined for nine points (6G, 3A) in their last two games played.
