SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that the Florida Panthers will honor Palm Beach County Teacher Of The Year Maria Aparicio of West Boca High School at the Cats-Toronto game on Thursday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the BB&T Center.
Mrs. Aparicio, her husband and two daughters will sit in Club RED during Thursday’s Apr. 25 Panthers game at the Broward County-owned BB&T Center. She will also be recognized during the game and presented with a special gift from Panthers President Michael R. Yormark.

Mrs. Aparicio is a Physics Honors teacher and Advanced Placement Physics teacher at West Boca Raton Community High School and is a resident of Boca Raton. She has been a teacher for 36 years and also spends time mentoring and volunteering and has chaired the Hispanic Heritage Picnic at St. Jude Catholic Church in Boca Raton since 2004.
Mrs. Aparicio was surprised by her principal, Mark Stenner, and area superintendent Connie Tuman-Rugg with flowers, balloons and the announcement that she had beaten out more than 12,000 teachers for the yearly honor.
