SUNRISE, Fla -- The Florida Panthers announced today that they will honor Fisher House, West Palm Beach on Nov. 22 vs. Philadelphia Flyers for all they do in supporting families of our injured warriors.
The Fisher House program began over 25 years ago and has provided a home for families of patients receiving medical care at nearby VA Medical Centers and Military Base hospitals. These homes are cost-free, temporary lodging to Military Veterans and their families allowing them to be close to their loved one during a medical crisis, relieving them of added financial stress.
"We are blessed to have the local West Palm Beach Fisher House and Miami Fisher House to serve our South Florida Military Veteran community," said President of Fisher House West Palm Valerie Halaby. "The ability to provide sanctuary for up to 950 military families every night in 71 homes across America would be impossble without the generosity of organizations like the NHL Florida Panthers, the loyal South Florida hockey fans, and the generosity of this grateful nation."
Fans can join the West Palm Beach Fisher House at a Panthers game at the BB&T Center on Nov. 22 by clicking HERE to purchase tickets and by using promo code WBPFISHER. The Fisher House will be honoring US Army Ranger & Black Hawk Down war hero Matt Eversmann and a portion of every group ticket sold will go to the Fisher House.
"We are honored to be recognizing the great and selfless work Fisher House does for military families across the country," said Panthers Chief of Staff Sean McCaffrey. "This cause means a lot to our organization and the Panthers are committed to help spread awareness and support military families during challenging times."
Panthers fans are encouraged to complete the 22 pushup challenge to raise awareness for the 22 soldiers who take their own lives every day leading up to the Nov. 22 game. Fans can post their 22 pushup videos on social media using the hashtag #22PushupChallenge to support the cause.
