SUNRISE, FLA – Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has agreed to terms with LW Scottie Upshall on a four-year contract.
“Scottie is a character player that is tough to play against and we are pleased to have signed him,” said Tallon. “He recorded career bests in goals and points last season and he is a player that will bring energy and enthusiasm to our line-up every night. We look forward to Scottie’s contributions to our team both on and off the ice.”
Upshall, 27, recorded career bests in goals (22) and points (34) last season while playing for both the Phoenix Coyotes and Columbus Blue Jackets. For his career in the National Hockey League, he has played in 361 contests with Nashville (2002-07), Philadelphia (2007-09), Phoenix (2008-11) and Columbus (2010-11), registering 172 points (86-86-172) and 325 PIM. The 6-foot, 200-pound winger reached the Eastern Conference Stanley Cup Finals with Philadelphia during the 2007-08 season, scoring three goals with four assists and 44 PIM in 17 games.
The Fort McMurray, Alberta native was drafted by Nashville with their first choice (sixth overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
