Panthers Shake Up Roster

The Panthers shook up their roster a bit before Wednesday’s game against the Avalanche by sending forwards Steve MacIntyre and Shawn Matthias back to its American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Rochester and calling up goalie Alexander Salak and forwards Jeff Taffe and Mike Duco.

Salak, 15-1 with Rochester this season with a 2.03 goals against and .934 save percentage, will serve as backup tonight to Scott Clemmensen. Goalie Tomas Vokoun will sit out as he recovers from an ear laceration.

Taffe previously played five games this season with the Panthers with no points. He has seven goals and 10 assists in 18 games in Rochester. Duco has three goals and two assists in 17 games with Rochester this season.

MacIntyre saw limited playing time in the four games he played with the Panthers. He fought Donald Brashear and Colton Orr in games against the Rangers and Maple Leafs, but played only 1:33 Monday against Atlanta. Matthias had six shifts (4:04) against Atlanta. In his six most recent games with the Panthers, Matthias had no points and was a minus-1 with three shots. He was most active Nov. 28 against Nashville, playing 12:29.
