Panthers Recall D Tyson Strachan

SUNRISE, Fla. ­ Florida Panthers Executive Vice President & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has recalled D Tyson Strachan.

Strachan, 27, earns his second call-up of the season to Florida. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound defenseman made his Panthers debut on Jan. 24 in Florida’s 3-2 shootout loss against Philadelphia. Prior to playing with Florida, Strachan appeared in 67 National Hockey League contests, all with St. Louis (2008-11), registering six assists and 82 PIM. He has played in 32 games for San Antonio this season recording 12 points (3-9-12) and 31 PIM.
The Melfort, Sask. native was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fifth round (137th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
Florida (22-15-11) hosts the Washington Capitals on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 8 p.m. The game can be seen on Fox Sports Florida and heard on 560 WQAM.
