Panthers Recall C Shawn Matthias & C Jeff Taffe

SUNRISE, FL – Florida Panthers General Manager Randy Sexton announced today that the club has recalled C Shawn Matthias and C Jeff Taffe.

Matthias, 21, has played in 21 games with Florida this season, scoring three goals with two assists and four PIM. For his career in the NHL, he has played in 41 games, all with the Panthers registering nine points (5-4-9) and eight PIM.

The Mississauga, Ontario native has played in 22 games with Rochester this year scoring four goals with seven assists and eight PIM. 

Taffe, 28, has played in 16 games with Florida this season, registering one assist with four PIM. For his career in the NHL he has played in 169 NHL contests (Phoenix, New York, Pittsburgh & Florida) scoring 20 goals with 23 assists and 40 PIM.

The Hasting, Minnesota, native has played in 30 games in Rochester this year recording 29 points (13-16-29) and 24 PIM.
Florida hosts the Atlanta Thrashers this evening, before opening up a two-game road trip with a game in New Jersey on Wednesday, Jan. 20. Tonight’s game can be seen on FS Florida and heard on Sports Talk 790 The Ticket at 7:30 p.m.
