SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager Randy Sexton announced today that the club has reassigned G Alexander Salak to the Rochester Americans (AHL).
Salak, 22, returns to Rochester after appearing in the Florida Panthers’ 6-2 loss to the Washington Capitals last night. The recall was the second of the season for the first-year netminder. The Strakonice, Czech Republic, native also played for the Cats earlier this season on Oct. 9 in Carolina.
In the American Hockey League, the 6-foot-1, 189-pound Salak boasts a league-best 15-1-0 record with 464 saves in just 17 games. His 2.03 goals-against average and .934 save percentage are currently seventh and fifth among league netminders, respectively, while his 15 wins are presently a league best. Salak has started 14 of the last 16 games for Rochester, posting a 13-1-0 record in that time with 392 saves and 27 goals against. In 17 games, Salak has only allowed 33 goals.
Florida begins a two-game homestand tomorrow night when they host the Atlanta Thrashers. The game can be seen live on FS Florida and heard on SportsTalk 790 The Ticket at 7 p.m .
