Panthers Prospects Drop 4-3 Overtime Decision in Rookie Tourney

OTTAWA, ON - In their third game of the 2005 Ottawa rookie tournament the Florida Panthers (0-2-1) prospects dropped a 5-0 loss to the host Senators (1-1-1) on Friday night. The Cats prospects complete the rookie tournament on Saturday when they face-off against the undefeated Toronto Maple Leafs (3-0-0) at 4:30 p.m in the Ottawa Civic Centre.

The Senators jumped out to an early lead on a power play tally by D Neil Komadoski just over five minutes into the opening frame. The Sens added another goal late first period when F Dave Bouchard found the back of the net at 15:25. Ottawa never looked back adding three more, with goals by F Danny Bois in the middle frame and F Patrick Eaveres and F Guillaume Labrecque in the final period.

Cats netminder David Shantz turned away 26 shots in the loss, while Sens goaltender Kelly Guard stopped all 20 of the Cats shots.

In other tournament action, the Carolina Hurricanes (3-1-0) defeated the Montreal Canadiens (1-2-0) 5-2 in Friday's early game.
