Florida Defeats Buffalo 3-1 at the BankAtlantic Center
Jesse Agler's Post-Game Recap:
Well, the Cats started off the third period killing off the remainder of the Stephen Weiss tripping penalty, then turned that positive into a lead as Ric Jackman scooped up a losse puck and fired it home for the go-ahead goal just 49 seconds into the period. In just his sixth game played on the season, Jackman, who has been a healthy scratch more often than not this year, gets his first goal of the season and second as a Panther. Hard to imagine another 19+ minutes of scoreless hockey, but there have been plenty of
surprises tonight so why rule anything out at this point?
Just a few minutes later, Cats get a break as Jackman and Jiri Novotny get tied up and Novotny is called for holding the stick. Took the Panthers all of 32 seconds to take advantage, as Stephen Weiss slammed one past Ryan Miller for an insurance goal. 3-1 now. All of the effort and all of the chances finally showing up on the scoreboard.
All done now and what a finish it was. Cats win it by a final of 3-1 and outshoot Buffalo 38-18. Mind you this is the top offensive team arguably in the entire NHL that they shut down. What a great win for the Cats as they win back-to-back games for just the second time this year. Time to take the act back on the road, Panthers at Islanders Saturday night. Our coverage gets underway at 530 with Florida Panthers Weekend Edition live from Uniondale, Panther Preview Driven by JM Lexus is at 630 and the puck drops
