Panthers Playoff Push Continues

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers

There's never been a better time to come out to a Florida Panthers game at the BankAtlantic Center. Heading into tonight's clash with the Atlantic Division-leading New York Rangers, the Cats have won seven of their last eight games and sit just five points behind Atlanta for the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot.

"There is a lot of excitement around here because every game is important for us," Captain Olli Jokinen said. "Our goal is to make the playoffs and to do that we have to keep winning hockey games. The fans have really helped us build some momentum at home and a big crowd is going to be important tonight."

Fans interested in attending the biggest game of the season should buy tickets now as less than 1,000 seats remain available. Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, charge by phone (954-523-3309 in Broward County, 305-358-5885 in Dade County and 561-966-3309 in Palm Beach County), at and the BankAtlantic Center box office or by calling 954-835-PUCK.

The buzz around the franchise is palpable. Thursday's Sun-Sentinel headline read "Push for playoffs rolls on," and the Miami Herald quoted Cats veteran Gary Roberts as saying, "I like the way our guys compete, and we're going to make this thing interesting."

The Cats have been one of the hottest teams in the National Hockey League over the last two weeks, winning four straight games and cutting the playoff deficit from 12 to five points. The Panthers are especially tough to beat at the BankAtlantic Center, where they are 21-9-4, and 6-1-0 in their last seven home games.
