Panthers Players Purchase Suite For Charity

by Staff Writer / Florida Panthers
SUNRISE, Fla. – Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that Florida Panthers players led by Captain Bryan McCabe, Assistant Captain Cory Stillman and Assistant Captain Stephen Weiss have purchased a suite for charity at the BankAtlantic Center for every Cats home game during the 2010-11 NHL season.

The suite will be furnished with Panthers-themed decorations, games and adornments and McCabe, Weiss, Stillman and their teammates will use it to host children and families from a number of South Florida charities, most notably those organizations that support the Florida Panthers Foundation’s focus on pediatric cancer.

“I’m extremely proud that our players have stepped up to support the South Florida community and local charitable organizations,” said Panthers general manager Dale Tallon. “It’s further proof that our franchise and its players are committed to being successful both on and off the ice.”

The Panthers players’ suite purchase comes on the heels of a number of significant charitable commitments by the Panthers organization including the $400,000 donation to the Broward Health Foundation, the “Saves For Kids” program with goalies Tomas Vokoun and Scott Clemmensen, the sold out Florida Panthers Foundation Face Off Luncheon which raised more than $165,000, and President & COO Michael Yormark’s chairmanship of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk in Broward County with a goal of $100,000.

In addition, Panthers players, staff and personalities are committed to staying active in the South Florida community all season long with nearly 100 appearances already on the calendar for the 2010-11 season. Panthers fans can also look forward to the two remaining pillar events for the Florida Panthers Foundation: the Foundation Golf Tournament on Dec. 13 at Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs and Bowling Event on Feb. 5 at Strikes in Boca Raton – both in support of the fight against pediatric cancer.
